MYP-DP Interhouse Christmas Dance Competition 22 Dec 2017

Image
The students of MYP and DP had an interhouse dance competition on 22 December 2017. The theme for this dance competition was ‘Expressions’. The four houses participated enthusiastically in the competition.   We had invited professors from Choithram College of Nursing to judge this event. With the theme ‘The relation of a father and a daughter’, Tagore House won the first position and by portraying the issues related to ‘Women’s empowerment’, Mandela House secured the second position in the competition. A lot of effort and hard work from the students made this event successful and memorable. More photos on our Facebook album .

National Mathematics Day, 22 December, celebrated today

“An equation means nothing to me unless it expresses a thought of God.” – Srinivasa Ramanujan Today, 22 December, is celebrated as National Mathematics Day in India. Have you ever wondered why? Well, on this day, 130 years ago, the Indian intellectual mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was born. Srinivasa Ramanujan was and still is one of the greatest mathematicians who ever lived. He has created a magic square, showcasing mathematics at its best. In this square of his, every diagonal, row and column add up to the number 139, unmistakably. If you thought that was miraculous, you would be even more shocked to find that all the four corners and the central four add up to 139. To add to this excitement, the first column consists of the numbers 12, 22, 18, and 87. Not only do these numbers add up to 139, but also form Ramanujan’s birth date (December 22, 1887). To celebrate the famous mathematician, many mathematics-based activities were included in our lessons to...

MYP 1 visit to Anubhuti Seva Sansthan on 21 December 2017

Image
Yesterday, the students of MYP 1 went to Anubhuti Seva Sansthan where the special children are given shelter and given education as per their abilities. We went there with the purpose of donating clothes which were collected for them, and to teach them about cleanliness and handwashing as it was our service activity. We bonded well with the students there. We got to learn things from them and even taught them. The learner profile that I developed was caring and the ATL skill that I developed was self-management skills. My strength was that I encouraged the students at the orphanage. My weakness was that I didn’t communicate well with them.   Our challenge was to make members of our society aware of cleanliness and handwashing which we did very nicely with collaborative skills and teamwork. So, the experience of the orphanage was amazing. I enjoyed a lot and got to know many things. My conclusion is that we are blessed to be privileged...

Yesterday, we organised fundraising for our MYP CAS activity by selling tickets to a movie screening and distributing popcorn to the members of the audience. Students from PYP 1 to 5 attended the movie screening and enjoyed the show. They enjoyed every funny and suspenseful scene to the fullest as they all laughed while enjoying their popcorn. We, the organisers, enjoyed ourselves as the CAS activity was a big success.   – Kanishk Singh, MYP 4 More photos on our Facebook album .
