Responsible Parenting: The need of the hour

Image
Parents are the best role models for their children and hence it's their responsibility to instil in them ethical values essential for life. To reinforce these values which the children are somewhere lacking, a thought provoking session was conducted by the Head of the School on November 15, 2018 for the parents of the students of MYP 3 and 4. He discussed about the undesirable behaviour and activities of the students nowadays and s uggested some fruitful ways to regulate them. Reiterating the school’s admission policy, he firmly stated that the school strongly opposes bullying, cyberbullying and any antisocial actions and behaviour. Students indulging in such misconduct will be liable to strict action which may include expulsion from the school. No political influence would be entertained for any reason. He went on to add that internet connection is no longer a necessity in school and students are made well equipped with all study material offline. He advised parents to b...

It is rightly said that hard work is a bitter seed but bears sweet fruit and so was the most awaited inter – house band competition which was organized on Thursday, November 15, 2018. The event involved a great deal of students’ diligence and their musical talents spread everywhere like the vivacious colors of a rainbow. The students girded up their loins to prepare for the event and came off with flying colors. There was a cut throat competition between all the four houses as all were excellent but as it was the need of the competition to declare a winner, Gandhi House hit the jackpot and was announced as the winner of the event. The beats of the drums and octapad, the strings of guitar and the keys of synthesizer had a perfect poise and the ambience was out and out filled with melody and harmony. All had a great start to the day by witnessing the competition full of energy and life, and a splendid coordination of the beats and the rhythm. The students performed like professiona...

Relax, Renew, Revive

The MYP 5 Global Perspectives students decided to take on the topic sports and recreation for their project as it gave them a broad scope to work under. Firstly, some surveys were taken to understand the implications and issues related to the topic. Interestingly, they found that sports and recreation helped reduce stress. After a brainstorming session, they came to a consensus that the most stressed out individuals in the school were the teachers. So, to recreate a cheerful environment, some sports activities were organized for them in the school on November 03, 2018. They were offered to play any two games of their choice. The teachers enjoyed a lot and got relieved from stress. Also, they became a bit nostalgic and relished their bygone childhood days once again. In conclusion, it was clearly an effort that provided the students with the necessary skills of planning and thinking along with the enjoyment.

A secure and green Diwali

Image
Diwali is, originally the festival of lights but infamously the festival of noise. It is vital to celebrate this festival with minimum repercussions. Every year when people burst crackers, the pollution in the country crosses serious levels. All the money spent on bursting these clamorous crackers can be used for numerous good causes. People need to know and understand the after-effects of their one extravagant night of celebration and about every single person and animal, affected. The motive of Diwali is to spend time with the loved ones, not to unknowingly put their lives in danger. This Diwali, let us take the step towards a better world. Let’s celebrate Diwali with lanterns, diyas and candles; things that cause minimal damage to the environment. Say NO to noises and pollution, instead say YES to lanterns and diyas. Take a step towards a better Diwali, the nation will follow. To begin a step towards green Diwali, the students of MYP 5 worked together to spread awareness. A...

Zeal at its best

With the onset of the festive season, the students of MYP 5A filled the air with a great zeal during their assembly. They presented a vivacious assembly on Thursday, November 01, 2018 in which they focused on the prominence of the queen of the festivals, Diwali and also suggested some innovative ways to celebrate it with a difference, in a sustainable and safe way, and at the same time, maintaining the essence of the festival. The presentation emphasized on the intention of celebrating Diwali and its purpose of spreading happiness everywhere. The assembly was further carried forward with an interesting quiz for all, followed by an inspirational video that spread a message to give and share the pleasure with others. Finally it culminated with a scintillating dance performance and enthralled everyone. In nitty-gritty, the assembly was a perfect portrait of collaboration and developed ‘communicator’ as the learner profile.
