E-waste donation and collection drive at Choithram International on 1 July 2017

Our Green Schools Programme (GSP) initiatives are in full swing. The MP State authorized recycling unit has made our school a nodal point for mobilizing the local community for e-waste donation and collection.

As a part of this noble cause, our school has conducted several workshops with New Digambar Public School and Choithram School North Campus, encouraging students and teachers to participate in an e- waste donation and collection drive. For this purpose, a team of students and teachers from these schools visited Choithram International on 1st July 2017.

The MP State authorized recycler, Dr. Fazal Husain of Unique Eco Recycle, praised our school’s efforts in bringing the community together. Mr. Rajendra Singh, the Secretary of the Children’s Science Centre graced the occasion with his team. The Children’s Science Centre is affiliated to the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and aims to inculcate a scientific temperament and a spirit of sustainability amongst the youth.

A mobile van, specially configured for this purpose with exhibits of various hands-on models made out of electronic waste, was brought to our school and put on display. The platform promoted the understanding of the 4 R’s of sustainability – Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Refuse.
