French Fiesta 2017 Celebrations on 14 July 2017
On 14 July 2017, CI, in its continued tradition of
displaying international mindedness, celebrated French Fiesta 2017 to
commemorate the National Day of France.
The programme began with the representative of Help-Age
India, Ms. Sanskriti’s short speech on the growing awareness amongst citizens
of India about the care for aged people. Her speech inspired our students to be
caring with the aged in the family and in the society.
Saatwik and Bhavesh took over the stage and delivered a
powerful introductory speech rousing curiosity at the beginning of the French
Fiesta. This was followed by the French national anthem ‘Le Marseillaise’ as a
token of respect for France.
Sujay and Vikram of MYP5 took over the stage and
presented an informative speech on the significance of Bastille Day, the French
Revolution and its contribution to world history.
Our Chief Guest, Prof. Surendra Singh Chouhan, was
invited on stage to share his feelings on France.Prof. Chouhan delivered an enlightening speech on France,
French history and culture by relating it aptly to the global context,
international mindedness and the important aspects of IB education. He said
French is a very fit vehicle to convey the culture which evolved from Latin – the
language of the Roman Empire.
Prof. Chouhan reiterated that without strengthening the
foundation of grammar and especially the conjugation of verbs, French cannot be
mastered. He talked about the connections between France and India in history
through the French colonies in India, as well as France’s contribution to
Information Technology and Aeronautics.
The little ones of PYP appeared on stage to present a
melodious French poem, followed by a song ‘Salut mes amis’ and a dance. All these
performances created a mood of cheerfulness.
The DP 2 French Ab initio students took charge of the
stage and a conducted an interesting quiz on France, French language and French
culture. This was followed by a wonderful dance performance by MYP2 students.
Kashish and Rajnandani of DP1 came on the stage and gave
an informative speech in French on the importance of French language and the
role of France on the global stage. The English version of the speech was
well-presented by Prachi of DP1.
The French students of MYP 4 and 5 presented the French
song ‘L’oiseau et l’enfant’ very melodiously. This was followed by a thrilling
dance performance by Anubhi, Baani, Hiteshi and Ileshaa of MYP 5.
The DP French Ab initio students presented a video on
French culture.
Last but not the least, students of PYP and MYP presented
a breathtaking fashion show on the stage. Towards the end, Prachi and Mitika came upon the stage
and presented the vote of thanks on a very cordial note.
The assembly was concluded with the singing of Indian
national anthem.
This was followed by the food-stalls of delicious French
dishes put up by the students of MYP. The French Fiesta 2017 was a grand success. It
received an overwhelming response from the audience.
