All Star Swimmers – MYP Interhouse Swimming Competition

On the occasion of National Sports Day, 29 August 2017, our school’s Sports department organized an interhouse swimming competition, where all the houses competed for the most number of wins they can achieve.

Students from all the houses were placed in two categories to maintain a fair level of competition: seniors and juniors. The senior category had students form MYP 4 and MYP 5, while the juniors had students form MYP 1 to MYP 3.

The competition had all the four strokes of swimming. We started with the senior 25 m freestyle. It was a close competition between Kartavya Sharma of Mandela house and Siddharth Joshi of Lincoln house. The winner was Siddharth Joshi with Kartavya Sharma coming at second place. From the junior category, Akshat Shahjade, Shaswat Gupta, Leera Gupta and Disha Kukreja led the competition.

The next three senior events on the remaining strokes respectively were won by Kartavya Sharma of Mandela house, securing first position in all of them while Siddharth Joshi of Lincoln house secured second place.

Next, we had the relay race where participants form all the houses gathered and made teams of four. The relay started with Lincoln house taking the lead over all the houses and Mandela house coming in last. As the relay progressed, Mandela house picked up their pace with Kushagra Jain covering the lead given by Akshat Shahjade of Lincoln house. The last lap of the relay was a close call between Kartavya Sharma and SiddarthJoshi, with Siddharth touching the finish line first and Kartavya right after him. This gave Lincoln house the first position in the relay race, with Mandela standing at the second position.

These events at Choithram International inspire a healthy competition between the students where they test their skills against each other. The overall experience of the competition was admirable. Congratulations to all the winners!
