Students encouraged to enrol in rocket programme

Dr Praveen Kumar introduced our students and staff to a mission to educate children about rockets and rocket science. According to Dr Praveen Kumar, the mission has been initiated by PM Narendra Modi, wherein 600 Indian students will be involved in a programme to launch rockets from Pune (300) and Jaisalmer (300) during the second week of November 2017. Students selected for the programme will be trained for 12 hours within a period of 3 months. The registration fee for the programme is Rs.17,500/- per student.

To our curious students, Dr Praveen Kumar mentioned how rockets and rocketry was first used by the Chinese in wars against the Mongols hundreds of years ago. He also talked about how science and commerce will come together to build societies and civilisations, and fields of study such as artificial intelligence, agriculture, environment and biotechnology will be the largest sectors of employment in the future.
