Guest Lecture & Workshop for MYP 3A on Live Filmmaking on 27 September 2017

Under the Design Unit – Advertisement, a session by Mr Sushil Bharati was delivered for the learners of MYP 3A where he focused on various filmmaking techniques, the effectiveness of communication strategies, and the PSA (Public Service Announcement) in conveying information.

The session covered the basic concepts associated with filmmaking, beginning with an idea and leading to Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production and Distribution of the film.
He further emphasized on strategies like Basic Shots, Camera Angles and Movements, Chroma Techniques, Editing and Lighting involved in filmmaking.

To sum up their understanding, the MYP 3A students were asked to create a 1-minute video using the knowledge they gathered and various strategies they learnt in the session. The goal was to create a short film entirely conceived, directed, shot, splice edited, and projected independently by the students.

The lecture has proven to be very inspiring and informative for the students. There were many questions that were put forth by the students, which indicated the involvement and the curiosity of the students. Under Mr Bharati’s guidance, the students then went outdoors in groups to shoot their own 1-minute videos and submit them after post-production was completed.
