Choithram International - The Futuristic School
Recipient of ‘Greenest school of India’ 2017-18 Award
Choithram International was amongst the top five schools of India to receive greenest school of India Award. Centre for Science and Environment honours schools after a rigorous audit of how schools are ‘walking the talk’ with respect to environment friendly practices and natural resource management.
This year, 2,863 schools from 29 states and five Union territories registered for the GSP environmental audit. Of these, 1,193 schools submitted their completed audit reports to CSE. The auditing was done on various parameters including resource efficiency, low water use, and energy efficiency, low waste generation, harvesting and recycling of water, and providing a healthier space for its occupants as compared to a conventional building.
Choithram International under the mentorship of School Head, Mr. Dilip Vasu, has been awarded winner’s certificate and trophy in the “New Entrant category” for their effective resource management and innovative green practices which makes it a sustainable green school.
The school is committed to the cause of sustainable development and strives for a greener, better and more environment friendly world.
Five Students along with Green School Coordinator Ms. Jalpa Shah and Design facilitator Ms. Purva Holkar represented Choithram International at the Award Ceremony held at Stein Auditorium, Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The team was taken on four days excursion trip to best green practices sites in and around Delhi, like The Sulabh International social organization, Aravali Biodiversity Park, Goonj resource centre, MotiLal Nehru School of sports, CSE office etc. It was a great learning experience and the team came up with new vision of taking up the programme to next level.
