Every Drop Counts - MYP 1 Service

MYP 1 students enthusiastically managed the initiative themselves to spread awareness about water conservation in the community with regard to Service as Action for their unit ‘environment’ which connected with ‘globalisation and sustainability’.For this, they collected water from different localities and tested their pH value in the laboratory; and thus, analysed the extent of contamination in different areas of the city. 
This clearly showcased their ‘caring’ attribute.They also visited a water treatment plant to understand and reflect on the fact that the recycling of water is an important step towards conservation of water. 
They visted the PYP- 4 classroom to show the importance of water and its conservation, through interactive activities.As today is celebrated as ‘world water conservation day’,  the students spread awareness through attractive presentations like dance, song in a flash mob style at C21 Mall.
Some people came forward to share their opinion about the different steps to save water. 
Thus, the students were motivated by the local community who gave them a positive response when they communicated with them.

Interdisciplinary Learning and International Mindedness through Case Studies in Chemistry

In a case study, students not only learn to identify the problem but also propose solutions and explain the social, economic, geographical implications of the study being undertaken. This can be a very good teaching pedagogy for development of criterion D in sciences which reflects on the impact of sciences with regard to a proposed problem. Our students of Grade 9 Chemistry were provided with a case study on the problem ‘Life and condition of people involved in emerald mining in India and Brazil’. MYP Student Reflections on International Dot Day

1. Eishita Dhanwani (MYP 4) Our school decided to celebrate the international dot day by organising a competition. I personally think that is a wonderful way to celebrate an important event that even I was unaware about until the competition was announced. At first, when it was announced, most of us started panicking. We all scattered around the class in order to find the required supplies. Charts, sketch pens, crayons and a ton of other items were assembled on the tables. We all decided to make groups in order to share creative ideas and come up with something really creative and time saving. Our class was in chaos. Some were seriously doing their work. Our class did come up with splendid products. It was really creative and each of them were personalised which made them very special.
