MYP Service As Action - Visit to Amarlal Seva Trust

At the beginning of the year, my classmates came up with a great idea to help and entertain the people in the old age home as their families don't have time for them. This was for our Service as Action which was English Language and Literature curriculum-initiated with the unit ‘Family melodrama - King Lear’.

We decided to spend some quality time with them and make them feel happy. On the first visit, we interacted with them, got to know the problems they were facing there and also enjoyed with them by giving a musical and dance performance.

On our next visit, we not only wanted to spend time with them, but also raise some money so that they can overcome the problems they face over there. So, to raise money we showed the PYP kids of our school a movie of their choice.

During this visit, we performed before them a dance and also a musical. We asked them to perform too, which they did. They were great performances that everyone enjoyed. Finally, we gave them the lentils and rice as a gift from our side.

We developed ATL skills of ‘Communication’ and ‘ Self-management’ along with the IB learner profile of ‘caring’ through this initiative of ours.
