Speak up and Shine!

Joseph Chatfield has rightly said, “Oration is the power to the people to talk out of their sober and natural opinions”.

Words have incredible might as they are the most effective medium of communication. It takes a lot of courage and confidence to stand up and face the audience. So, to witness the Inter-House Extempore Competition, the students of MYP gathered in the AV hall on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The competition was held in Junior and Senior categories. There was a wide range of topics for the participants to express their views instantaneously. All the contestants were highly enthusiastic to showcase their oratory skills on discrete topics within the given time limit. The judges, TOK Coordinator and MYP Coordinator, spared their valuable time to surmise the participants and encouraged them through their guidance and appreciation. The competitors adhered to the rules and performed their best. Deshnaa Kanthed from Tagore House bagged the first position, Ashwin Ramnani from Gandhi House stood second and Daksh Ramchandani from Tagore House stood third in the Junior category. Whereas, Yajvin Peutz from Lincoln House bagged the first position, Syona Nagar from Tagore House stood second and Ananya Dandekar from Gandhi House stood third in the Senior category.

Also, the winners of the French Olympiad were felicitated with the certificates and medals for their laudable performance. Ishika Bhandari, Akshat Shahjade, Deshnaa Kanthed received Gold medals, Bhumika Moolchandani, and Krishna Agrawal got Silver medals and Ruana Ahuja and Aashita Gupta got Bronze medals respectively.

All in all, it was undoubtedly a wonderful opportunity for the students to overcome their stage fright and gain confidence to emerge as eloquent public speakers.
