Smile, Sparkle, Shine

“Life is like a mirror. Smile at it and it smiles back at you.” – Peace Pilgrim

The above quote very well justifies the theme of the assembly i.e. ‘April Fool’s Day’ presented by the young learners of MYP 4 B on Thursday, April 04, 2019. They presented a wide array of acts ranging from a power point presentation, a dance performance, an orchestra performance to an informative speech by the Head Boy during the assembly. The enthusiastic performers collaborated and synchronized with each other to present various acts and amused all.

The event was a sheer expression of students’ flair for exhibiting their talent and filled everyone with mirth and joy. The last act of playing prank of gulling the audience left everyone tickled pink. The assembly culminated with the prize distribution for various events held and resonated happiness everywhere. The ATL skills and the learner profiles that were strengthened through the event were ‘Communication’, and ‘Communicator’ and ‘Inquirer’ respectively.

Interdisciplinary Learning and International Mindedness through Case Studies in Chemistry

by Jalpa Shreyas Shah A case study is a good example of problem-based learning which involves in-depth study of the problem through research and data collection. In a case study, students not only learn to identify the problem but also propose solutions and explain the social, economic, geographical implications of the study being undertaken. This can be a very good teaching pedagogy for development of criterion D in sciences which reflects on the impact of sciences with regard to a proposed problem. Our students of Grade 9 Chemistry were provided with a case study on the problem ‘Life and condition of people involved in emerald mining in India and Brazil’. MYP Student Reflections on International Dot Day

1. Eishita Dhanwani (MYP 4) Our school decided to celebrate the international dot day by organising a competition. I personally think that is a wonderful way to celebrate an important event that even I was unaware about until the competition was announced. At first, when it was announced, most of us started panicking. We all scattered around the class in order to find the required supplies. Charts, sketch pens, crayons and a ton of other items were assembled on the tables. We all decided to make groups in order to share creative ideas and come up with something really creative and time saving. Our class was in chaos. Some were seriously doing their work. Our class did come up with splendid products. It was really creative and each of them were personalised which made them very special.
