Mother Language Day
It is rightly said by Rita Mae Brown “Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going”. The ability to speak one’s own mother tongue connects a person to his/her culture, ensures better cognitive development, and aids in the learning of other languages. Being exposed to the existence of other languages increases the perception that the world is populated by people who not only speak differently from oneself but whose cultures and philosophies are other than one’s own. International Mother Language Day is celebrated on February 21 every year and so it was celebrated in the school today with great fervor and zeal. The alacrity of the students to acknowledge this day was crystal clear and the event gave a fair chance to everyone to promote their mother tongue.
