IDL Collaborative Session
‘In the long run and for wider-reaching issues, more creative solutions tend to come from imaginative interdisciplinary collaboration”.-Robert J. Shiller
True indeed….Interdisciplinary teaching is the need of the hour. Interdisciplinary learning empowers students to explore different perspectives and views. MYP 1 students witnessed an interdisciplinary collaboration between History and Language and Literature-English during the weeklong celebration of learning going on in Choithram International.
The virtual classroom reverberated with the enthusiastic participation of the learners in a guest talk by HOD humanities which connected their ongoing topic of Child labor with the history of the Industrial Revolution. It was interesting to observe how a fresh perspective of a guest teacher added to the understanding of students. Students thoroughly enjoyed the informative and comprehensive session.
Such IDL sessions help students learn how to solve problems and think critically. It also helps them connect their curriculum to real-life situations and have a greater perspective of the issues they are studying in their classroom.
