  • Learner’s were Introduced to “What is Code?” And the concept of code (a system of symbols used for communication) using both physical and virtual experiences.
  • They were introduced to algorithms through hands-on activities by asking them to give desired instructions to successfully complete a task. (ex: To tie a shoelace or to reach a particular object, bringing glass of water, or to unbox an object) They reflected on their experiences of creating their own algorithms.
  • Learners were given a gist of different coding patterns text based and block based coding. They were introduced to Tynker. 
  • Learners were given more hands-on learning with block coding (Dragon Blast - Hour of code), they were further introduced to loops, functions, variables and how to follow steps while coding.

  Building effective parent-teacher partnership  An orientation session was conducted for the parents and students on Saturday, 7th August 2021. The purpose of this orientation was to enlighten the parents and keep them informed about the intricate details of the MYP Assessment procedure and the IB way of the teaching-learning process. The session included orientation on 'Celebration of learning' in the form of IDL (Interdisciplinary learning). Whereby the parents were apprised about the scope for transfer of learning from the boundaries of one subject to the other subjects and to real life as well.  Parents were also updated about the SEL program which can help students better understand and identify their emotions; develop empathy, increase self-control and manage stress. The Zoom meeting was very informative for all the attendees. IDL Session in MYP 1

   ‘Dead Men Do Tell Tales’.- William R. Maples Interdisciplinary education allows students to see different perspectives and work in groups with the synthesis of disciplines the ultimate goal. Choithram International took an initiative to celebrate IDL week by indulging in Interdisciplinary Teaching Learning activities. CI teachers decided to take teaching a step further by connecting their ongoing topics with other disciplines. This would help students to understand why they are learning a particular topic and how they can apply their knowledge gained in real life.  Ongoing topic ‘Skeletal System’ in MYP 1 Biology was connected with Forensics wherein students got to know that the skeleton speaks a lot about the gender and age of the deceased and also the reason of the death of a person. by Rajee Venugopal Unit 1 reflection MYP 3 Global Context - Identities and relationship (Exploring - Physical, spiritual and mental health) The students were introduced to the first topic in this unit ’Food Production’ where they organised themselves into different continents and presented their progress in the field of agriculture. It was a very good activity where sharing of information took place to the maximum and ended up in a debate. The complete classroom scenario was like a seminar and the learners enjoyed this. The skills developed through this activity were research skills and communication skills. An agricultural farm visit was planned to learn about new techniques of farming. The students’ knowledge about agricultural practices was further extended to a service through farming in a small scale in the school premises.
