Choithram International has always been committed to promoting a sustainable lifestyle. In alignment with our school’s mission, we focus on grooming our students to become compassionate and responsible global citizens.

To achieve our goal of a Sustainable Green School, our staff and students have been

working rigorously on various aspects of the environment like land, air, energy, water, and waste management. Choithram International has even received accolades from CSE for the commendable work done in this field.

A lot has been done to spread the message of the importance of ‘Sustainability’ to the wider community. On 30th July 2022, students of CI got an opportunity to share their projects undertaken under the Green School Programme along with curriculum-driven work with students from Global STEM Academics These students are from different countries like Mexico, UK, USA, Germany, South Africa,Brazil, Spain, Morocco and Egypt who are currently on a visit to the host school Emerald Heights, a reputed school in Indore, for the exchange programme under the aegis of AFS,  focused on STEM.

The session also facilitated interaction of our students with the exchange students by involving them on hands on activity like making seed balls and creating a creative utility item with the waste generated at home. The students of Choithram International presented various constructive ways through which an individual can achieve a sustainable lifestyle.  The session was very effective and fruitful with many takeaways. Our students exhibited brilliant communication, self-management, and collaborative skills throughout the session.

Interdisciplinary Learning and International Mindedness through Case Studies in Chemistry

by Jalpa Shreyas Shah A case study is a good example of problem-based learning which involves in-depth study of the problem through research and data collection. In a case study, students not only learn to identify the problem but also propose solutions and explain the social, economic, geographical implications of the study being undertaken. This can be a very good teaching pedagogy for development of criterion D in sciences which reflects on the impact of sciences with regard to a proposed problem. Our students of Grade 9 Chemistry were provided with a case study on the problem ‘Life and condition of people involved in emerald mining in India and Brazil’. The case study was based on their unit in Chemistry titled Extraction of Metals. The students were given the abstract on Gemstone industries in both countries and details of emerald mining. MYP Student Reflections on International Dot Day

1. Eishita Dhanwani (MYP 4) Our school decided to celebrate the international dot day by organising a competition. I personally think that is a wonderful way to celebrate an important event that even I was unaware about until the competition was announced. At first, when it was announced, most of us started panicking. We all scattered around the class in order to find the required supplies. Charts, sketch pens, crayons and a ton of other items were assembled on the tables. We all decided to make groups in order to share creative ideas and come up with something really creative and time saving. Our class was in chaos. Some were seriously doing their work. Our class did come up with splendid products. It was really creative and each of them were personalised which made them very special.
