MYP Exhibition 2017-18

National Science Day is commemorated in India on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman on 28 February 1928. In lieu of it, he had been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. Today at CI, there was an exhibition in commemoration of the day. All science subjects explored different topics and made the event a great one. Along with the science exhibits, the other subjects had also put up their curriculum initiated activities and strategies of learning. Erase your E-Waste and Reuse your Paper Waste!

Choithram International has been successfully running electronic waste collection drive in school and community. Till now around 300 Kg of e-waste has been collected by mobilizing various stakeholders and recycled with state authorized recycling plant. School has been pioneer in mobilizing e-waste from schools like NDPS, Shri Ram centennial, Choithram School, Nipania etc- Green School brigadiers as part of the mission have decided to sensitize shopkeepers of electronic shops for proper disposal of electronic waste. Students enthusiastically made e-waste collection box out of waste boxes. They would be installing the collection boxes at Novelty Market and community at Silicon Valley so as to mobilize maximum e-waste.  

Creativity at its best - On The Spot Act Competition

On The Spot Act Competition was organised at CI today. With the help of three images and some props, each house prepared an act within 15 minutes in both Senior and Junior categories. The students participated with great enthusiasm. Gandhi House, in both the categories, won the first place for their imagination at play - with their junior act on saving trees and senior act on Barack Obama. Mandela House closely followed behind taking the second place in both the categories again. All the four houses and their students worked impeccably in the short time provided, surprising the audience with their performances.  

CI participated in International Schools Sports Association Sports Meet, Pune 2017-18.

The football Under 13 team secured 3rd position. The team had a close fight in the semi-final against Sreenidhi International school, Hyderabad and the opponents won in the tie breaker. The athletes of the school also proved their skills and Anmol , Tanishk , Snehal and Priyansh qualified for the final 80 mtrs. and 100 mtrs. races in Under 11 age category.

Amalgamation of language with culture

CI celebrated the International Mother Language Day with great enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see the involvement of the parent community who made it possible to include almost all Indian languages and dialects: Malwi, Nimari, Marathi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Punjabi, Sindhi, Bohra, Bengali, Odia, Malyalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Assembly by MYP 3B

Today, MYP 3B presented their assembly on the topic "Mahashivratri" in which they performed a mythological skit depicting the episode of ‘Lord Shiva’s wedding with Parvati’. Along with this, they also gave presentations on ‘Abraham Lincoln’ and ‘Charles Darwin’ in lieu of their birthdays. A mellifluous orchestra presentation delighted the gathering. They concluded the assembly by giving a talk on ‘How to reduce peer pressure’ and exhibited skill of Collaboration and IB learner profile Knowledgeable.

Choithram International - The Futuristic School   Recipient of ‘Greenest school of India’ 2017-18 Award Choithram International was amongst the top five schools of India to receive greenest school of India Award. Centre for Science and Environment honours schools after a rigorous audit of how schools are ‘walking the talk’ with respect to environment friendly practices and natural resource management. This year, 2,863 schools from 29 states and five Union territories registered for the GSP environmental audit. Of these, 1,193 schools submitted their completed audit reports to CSE. The auditing was done on various parameters including resource efficiency, low water use, and energy efficiency, low waste generation, harvesting and recycling of water, and providing a healthier space for its occupants as compared to a conventional building. Assembly by MYP 3A

“ Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments” - Jim Rohn Today,   # MYP   3 A presented an impeccable assembly on discipline and self management. The assembly commenced with a prayer. A thought was shared with the audience to inspire everyone to have a great day, followed by updating the audience with the latest news. Thereafter, two motivational videos (one on discipline and the other on a short animated story about a boy who learnt to maintain discipline) were s hown. After this, the students presented a choir through which they conveyed a message about success. An energetic orchestra performance livened up the gathering. With a student speaking about her perspective of discipline, the assembly was culminated. Thus, the students displayed their communication and organisation skills along with Principled and Communicator learner profiles.    

An experience with pottery

Almost everyone in MYP-2 had done or seen pottery beforehand.  Even then, the students were keen to have a deeper understanding of pottery. So, the pottery session was led by a specialist, Mr. Sanjay. It helped to polish the students crude skills and allowed all of them craft wonderful pots with some assistance from the resource person. The results were outstanding, especially from the ones who were previously novice in this art. Some comments from the students: “I think the workshop was very interesting for me, because we learnt how to create proper pots, and everybody got a chance to make the pots.
