MYP 1B - Service Culmination

                 Let’s nurture nature so that we can have a better future. Service is an integral part of the MYP curriculum. While extending service to the community students are groomed to be more responsible and aware global citizens. Keeping this view in mind, MYP 1 B students took up three service projects -Flora and Fauna, Mission Animal Existence, and Concern for Corona in the ongoing session. As a culmination of the service, students presented glimpses of their activities in the form of PowerPoint presentations, videos, posters, and students talks. It was an excellent presentation demonstrating their in-depth research and collaborative work for all three projects. Tynker Coding

  Learner’s were Introduced to “What is Code?” And the concept of code (a system of symbols used for communication) using both physical and virtual experiences. They were introduced to algorithms through hands-on activities by asking them to give desired instructions to successfully complete a task. (ex: To tie a shoelace or to reach a particular object, bringing glass of water, or to unbox an object) They reflected on their experiences of creating their own algorithms. Learners were given a gist of different coding patterns text based and block based coding. They were introduced to Tynker.  Learners were given more hands-on learning with block coding (Dragon Blast - Hour of code), they were further introduced to loops, functions, variables and how to follow steps while coding.

Service as Action Through Art Forms

“The pursuit of art on a regular basis may be the key to healing our minds and bodies.”- Kim Blair Students at Choithram International are always encouraged to be responsible and caring for society. They get ample opportunities to connect academics with service-learning experiences.   Looking at the increase in stress level and anxiety during the pandemic, students of MYP 2 A took initiative to identify the role of Arts in Healing. Under the able guidance of the faculties of the Art department, students explored how various art forms dance, drama, music, visual arts, etc. promote healing and wellness. The meticulous planning and systematic execution of the service project “The Healing Power of Art & Artists” were evident at the culmination event on 5th October 2021 on a virtual platform.
