Integration of GarageBand in Creating Musical Piece

In CI, we strongly believe that there is musicianship in each and every child. And GarageBand helps students to think critically as well as creatively and create mellifluous musical tunes. GarageBand's visual interface makes sound more visible and is excellent for teaching multitrack recording/audio engineering, composition, and podcasting . In one of our tasks, we asked our budding musicians to play background instruments using GarageBand for a Prayer song.

Personal Project Virtual Exhibition-2021

Personal Project Virtual Exhibition-2021 “ With hard work and effort, you can achieve anything”.- Antoine Griezmann MYP Personal Projects are the highlights of the MYP Journey that generates huge learning opportunities, allied with the fact that each student emerges with a clear ‘product’ at the end – the visible outcome of their months-long endeavors. To celebrate the achievements of the students, MYP Personal Project Exhibition was organized on 4th December 2021 through the Virtual Platform for the second consecutive year due to the pandemic. The passion of the MYP 5 batch was evident in a range of exciting, richly informative, highly individual, and at times genuinely moving presentations. The projects showcased in the exhibition were innovative as well as inspiring in the way they addressed global issues. Projects on varied topics from art and sustainability to science and sports were presented at the event. The event was the culminating experience in the Middle Years Program...

DP 1 Chemistry - Bonds

Image
VSEPR theory Through an engaging activity, students of DP-2 were able to determine the structure of the polyatomic molecule. They were able to explain why some bond angles are shorter than others. They came to know the order of repulsive force between different types of electron pairs. Students used PhET simulation to understand the concept of VSEPR theory. They drew a Venn diagram using pages to showcase their understanding from the app. The activity was very fruitful and served the purpose of enhancing students' skills and knowledge.

Habitats

Learner’s closely explored habitats virtually. This app helped learner’s look deeply into the habitats and how the living beings meet up their requirements in their specific habitat.

Concept Building - Laws of Motion

Students of MYP 1 were introduced to the concepts of friction, speed, acceleration, and momentum in an engrossing way. To re-enforce the concepts, they were asked to create a presentation on the application of Physics to Road safety. For this, an exemplary keynote was shared with them with an explanation of the application of physics to Road safety. Keynote is always found to be the best mode for explaining the concepts. Students mostly show their understanding using the keynote while presenting in the class. The concepts highlighted in each slide could be elaborated on by the student while explaining. This activity also aided in peer assessment. Along with subject-specific skills students also developed communication skills through this integration. They even converted the keynote into videos and added transitions and animations to show creative skills.

MYP 1B - Service Culmination

Image
Let’s nurture nature so that we can have a better future. Service is an integral part of the MYP curriculum. While extending service to the community students are groomed to be more responsible and aware global citizens. Keeping this view in mind, MYP 1 B students took up three service projects -Flora and Fauna, Mission Animal Existence, and Concern for Corona in the ongoing session. As a culmination of the service, students presented glimpses of their activities in the form of PowerPoint presentations, videos, posters, and students talks. It was an excellent presentation demonstrating their in-depth research and collaborative work for all three projects. It was also evident that our young learners are concerned about the environment and can strive for its protection and preservation. The culmination event highlighted a fruitful learning experience for all the students and their work was appreci...

Tynker Coding

Image
Learner’s were Introduced to “What is Code?” And the concept of code (a system of symbols used for communication) using both physical and virtual experiences. They were introduced to algorithms through hands-on activities by asking them to give desired instructions to successfully complete a task. (ex: To tie a shoelace or to reach a particular object, bringing glass of water, or to unbox an object) They reflected on their experiences of creating their own algorithms. Learners were given a gist of different coding patterns text based and block based coding. They were introduced to Tynker.  Learners were given more hands-on learning with block coding (Dragon Blast - Hour of code), they were further introduced to loops, functions, variables and how to follow steps while coding.
