Shishukunj MUN – A Memorable Experience for CI Delegates

Image
A convention where budding speakers, curious minds, and potential diplomats came together for three days to deliberate on conflicts and issues that hold global significance – Shishukunj MUN 2017.  The MUN was held at The Grand Bhagwati Hotel in Indore 20-22 July 2017, and saw delegates from different schools from all over India participate. Our school was one of the well-known delegations, and included students from both MYP and DP.  This MUN owed its uniqueness to a new procedure in our MUN circuit, the UN4MUN procedure, which aims to familiarize delegates with the workings and proceedings of the actual United Nations. The procedure, although met with apprehension in the beginning, turned out to be an amazing learning experience and was appreciated by all.  Over the course of the three days, delegates made speeches, collaborated with fellow delegates to come up with solutions to the issues at hand, and at the end, unanimously pa...

MYP 4A Assembly on 20 July 2017

Image
The students of MYP 4A had the assembly on the theme of 'Nelson Mandela Day', a great passionate man who brought freedom to the African people. He was the Leader who did not stop his approach for the freedom of his countrymen although he had gone to the jail for 27 years. The students got a wonderful opportunity to present his good deeds as a theme of their assembly. The assembly began with a mesmerizing thought by Nelson Mandela: "Everyone can rise above their circumstances and achieve success if they are dedicated to and passionate about what they do." Nelson Mandela was a man with conviction who had a passionate vision to see his country’s people happy and enjoying equal rights, which the students tried to depict in various ways, including a PowerPoint presentation and a video, followed by a motivational song "We shall overcome". Lastly, the students presented a dance performance conveying the message of no-discrimination. ...

Synthetic milk consumer awareness drive by MYP 4 students

Choithram International believes in encouraging innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. In keeping with this notion, an Industrial Chemistry workstation has been set up to help students solve real-life problems. The role of chemistry is to bridge the theoretical and practical knowledge and help common people solve their own problems. Adulteration in food samples is a cause of concern in recent times. One such scam had come into focus in Haryana where synthetic milk was made from harmful chemicals and sold at a high price. Although the cost of making this milk from cheap raw material is not more that Rs.5, it was sold at a much higher rate of Rs.30 per litre in the market. The MYP 4 students in the workstation were shown how such synthetic milk was made using urea, glucose, detergents, and caustic alkali. It was a surprise to see that the synthetic milk looked like normal milk. The students were also guided as to how chemistry helps in detecting fake milk from real mil...
