The students of MYP 3 planned a curriculum initiated Service as Action on ‘Organ donation’ in the Choithram Hospital campus. They tried to spread awareness about the importance of organ donation and the possible organs that can be donated when alive and those that can be donated after death. With this goal in mind, they tried to convince many hospital visitors with a lot of enthusiasm to register themselves to donate organs. Although they   faced challenges like resistance from some people, the students showed resilience by continuing to influence people. When they started getting positive responses, it gave them a lot of inner satisfaction. They developed the ATL skill ‘Communication’ through interaction with people while they tried to convince them. They also showed IB learner profiles like ‘Caring’ and ‘Communicator’ through this.

On the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’, a workshop on self-defense for the girls was conducted by National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD). The MYP and DP girl students participated in the workshop and interacted with the Assistant Regional Director, Dr. Rajesh Mishra, and former DSP, Mr. Amrit Phale, of Crime Against Women cell, Indore. In this training session, the trainers taught the girls many self-defense techniques to develop confidence in them. They encouraged the girls to speak about crimes targetted at girls and women. At the same time, they were given tips about what to do if they are trapped in an undesirable situation. They were also made aware about different laws and helplines to call to prevent them. It was an extremely interactive session. Further, the girls can show empathy and respect towards the community and brings positive changes in others’ lives by transferring their knowledge of self-defense. ...

The Chemistry students of MYP-4 aligned their Unit ‘Acid Base and Salt’ decided to test various brands of cold drinks in the laboratory through a series of chemical tests in lieu of Service as Action. They detected the presence of sugar, phosphate, carbonate and were astounded to observe the high acidic content. We, the Business Studies and Economic students of MYP 4, decided to do a business activity at school. It all started with the inception of the Marketing chapter in Business Studies and Equity, Costs and Revenues Chapter in economics. On the 16th of February, we started with a series of discussions and created our own SOI (Statement of Inquiry), followed by creating our SMART( Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time Bound) goals which we learned in school. We created an action plan.The next day, we took permission from the school admin and the ‘Jwala Mahila Samiti' Founder, Dr Divya Gupta, so that we could understand the purpose of the organization and support their cause. We discovered that Jwala Mahila Samiti is non-political self-funding, a social organization of women. Eco-friendly HOLI Today, MYP 2A celebrated the first day of the festival of colours - Holika Dahan - the victory of goodness over evil - through a video of Hiranyakashipu, Holika and Prahlad; and also - HOLI - divine love (raaslila) through a a song and dance.   The ways one can celebrate a safe and eco-friendly Holi and avoid the chemical colours was stressed upon and importance of ‘National Science Day’ was highlighted. To spread awareness for proper waste disposal, a message was delivered through a skit that everybody should take the responsibility for appropriate waste management.   In this way, the students demonstrated their Communication and Self-management skills along with the IB learner profile ‘Caring’.
