E-Investiture Ceremony 2021-22

  Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality  -Warren Bennis Choithram International celebrated the indomitable spirit of young talented leaders and commemorated them through a Virtual Investiture Ceremony on July 31, 2021. The virtuous and deserving DP, MYP, and PYP school leaders were formally bestowed with the responsibility of leading their School by the Head of School, Mr. Dilip Vasu. The solemn ceremony was graced by students and faculties and it was an exhilarating moment for all the office bearers who were filled with zeal and zest. The pride and sense of dedication in the voices were palpable when the Head boy and the Head girl expressed their conviction on taking the esteemed responsibilities. Bengali Culture

  Promoting Intercultural Learning! “Once you understand and appreciate other people’s cultural backgrounds, then you can also connect with them more effectively. ” To promote intercultural learning in the Classroom a Guest Talk was arranged on Bengali Culture for MYP 1 Students. It was an initiative to engage the young learners in an interactive learning experience. The session gave the students a deeper insight into Bengali literature and culture. Students could connect it with their Language and Literature curriculum where they are also exploring the translated work of Rabindranath Tagore. The students were encouraged to accept the differences in viewpoints of other cultures instead of being judgmental about them. Interesting presentations kept the students glued to the session and interacting freely. It was a wonderful learning experience for the students to hear the guest speaker talk about a different culture, celebrations, food, etc, and experiencing it virtually.

Healing Power of Art

When students participate in debate, they learn to study issues in-depth and from different perspectives. -Barack Obama                     Debating is a beautiful art that has an important role to play in various aspects of student life. To imbibe a true spirit of learning and to enhance their communication skills virtual intraclass debate competitions were conducted for the students of MYP 1 & 2.  Students of MYP 1 expressed their viewpoints on the topic "Humans are a threat to life on Earth" and students of MYP 2 spoke eloquently on the topic- "Social Media does more harm than good". Intriguing Session on Drama Therapy

Art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate , inspire and motivate. We at Choithram International believe that young minds should explore beyond the four walls, and performing arts is the apt medium for it.Using drama as a teaching aid in classrooms helps students learn to read critically, write cogently and think broadly. Keeping this view in mind a Guest Lecture was organized for the students of MYP 1 &  2 focusing on the role of Applied Theatre: in Promoting Health and Well Being.  An interactive session was conducted by the subject expert from the Arts Department, wherein students were given an insight into Drama Therapy and its benefits. Meet the Teacher Day!

  Choithram International organised a ‘Meet the Teacher Day’ session for parents of MYP to provide an overview of the online teaching learning experience on Saturday 17th July 2021 through a virtual platform. The motive was close interaction of parents with teachers with regard to the progress shown by their wards and to work in collaboration with the parents to devise new ways to enrich learning and promote the holistic development of the students. The school has also taken the initiative to keep the parents updated about the school pedagogy through MYP Information site. Parents were informed about the site, the academics, methodology used in online classrooms, forthcoming assessments and relevance of student profile etc. The PTM was concluded successfully with positive feedback from the parents. They were glad to acknowledge the efforts taken up by the school and its staff for the accomplishment of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

One-Act Play-Erudition

  “The quality of a play is the quality of its ideas.”― George Bernard Shaw Learning is the only thing that the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets. Students of MYP 2 enjoyed a valuable learning experience by participating in One Act English Play presentation activity. The engaging hands-on task gave students an opportunity to develop interpersonal skills and team spirit. Students as team members used their critical and creative thinking skills to come up with remarkable ideas for writing and directing a play on the theme of Justice and Peace. The task helped them to enhance their self- management and problem-solving skills as they learned to cope with pressure of conceiving a great act collaboratively.   Even if you are not that good, dancing frees the body to float along with the music and to cast off stress.- Byron Pulsifer Dance isn’t just an art form or an expression, but also the key to one’s overall well-being. In this age of online learning, students are inclined more towards dance as it is a great way to bond with their peers. Dance lessons allow the students to create routines and add a unique flair to their moves and self-expression. As a part of their Curriculum Driven Service Project students of MYP 2-A attended a Guest Lecture imparted by Mr.Rakshit Yadav, Head of Arts Department on the topic -Role of Dance in Health and Well Being.  Learners gained more knowledge on the remarkable impact dance can have in their lives. Effective Learning through Role Play

“ For every different role, you play it’s nice to have different challenges for each one”.- Freddie Highmore Role-Playing Sessions encourage students to think more critically and to see situations from a different perspective. It also offers a chance to gain practical experience, showcase speaking and presentation skills. Keeping this view in mind a Role-Play Activity was conducted for students of MYP 1 B wherein students were given an opportunity to present themselves as News Anchors. The objective of this challenge was to blend learning with fun and develop confidence in the little ones. The excitement of our young performers knew no bounds as they waited eagerly for their turn to showcase their talent. Resplendent in their costumes the learners emulated newscasters with great conviction and passion. It proved to be a great learning experience for all the students. 

Environmental Ethics-Pressing Priority

Egleston, Harper's Magazine (Apr 1882).   As a part of their Business Studies Curriculum, MYP 5 Students are undergoing a unit where they are exploring the Environmental and Ethical issues concerning business activities.    A session on the BP Oil spillage case study was conducted so that learners can explore the varied viewpoints in terms of Sustainable Development. They were able to understand the impact of business activities on our Environment, Ecosystem, and especially Marine life through the Guest Lecture by Ms. Rajee Venugopal.   “Music can heal the wounds which medicine cannot touch.”– Debasish Mridha Learning through and about the arts not only enriches the experience of students in school but also alleviates anxiety, depression, and stress. In times of crisis, the role of art becomes more central to our lives, keeping this view in mind students of MYP 2 have taken the initiative to acquire more knowledge for their Curriculum Driven Service Project and then create awareness about The Healing Power of Art & Artists in the community. To begin with, a Session on the Healing Power of Music was conducted wherein a Guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Saikat Roy from Music Department. In a very interactive and engaging session, students learned about the Conceptual Framework for Music, Health & Well-being. Debates exist so that we can continue to improve, grow, and gain new perspectives. -Alec The Debate Competitions are one of the academic activities that give students a creative room to express their opinions, showcase their skills, and also boost their confidence. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain during these sessions are simply unparalleled.
