Reflection by Yajvin Puetz of MYP 2A : We had a guest lecture by the general manager of Radisson, who thoroughly explained tangible and intangible resources, the difference between Software and Hardware, and what the service industry is all about, in terms of the perspective of a hotel. He spoke about skills required generally in the tertiary sector, and also certain skills required as a human being. He differentiated between honesty and integrity and their importance in our life. He also spoke about the difference between hearing something, and listening to something.   He not only spoke about good communication and preventability but also   also practically showed them. He explained the importance of how one thinks of himself, and why is it important to be presentable, not only to others but mainly also to ourselves. On the World Theatre Day, the MYP students of Choithram International participated in the “72 Hour Film Festival” held at “Prestige Institute of Management and Research”. When we were briefed about this short filmmaking competition a couple of days back, we decided to embrace this exhilarating challenge and divided ourselves into two groups. After which, we had intense brainstorming sessions resulting in the c reation of two movies - “Vishwas” and “Prabhat” - in three days, with intriguing plots having interesting twists and turns. As we got to know that our movies will be screened, our exuberance knew no bounds. On the day of the screening, we reached the venue very elated and excited. Save the buried sunshine, use natural sunshine.

Reduce stress on ‘fossil fuels through the buried sunshine.’ Students of MYP 3 as a part of the ongoing unit ‘Energy’ had a field visit on 23/3/18 to Jaivik Setu​. The site is famous for its organic farming and itsproducts as well as use of solar energy extensively. The students saw a demonstration of utilization of solar energy to produce electricity. They were also shown the use of solar charger, solar panels, solar dryer and   solar cooker as well as explained the principle behind the working of solar cooker, solar dryer and also the procedure for generating electricity byusing solar energy. Their understanding about the importance of reducing exploitation of non-renewable sources of energy for a sustainable society was re-enforced. Silver Zone French Olympiad

The achievers of Silver Zone French Olympiads were awarded today for the exam conducted on 19 December, 2017. Deshnaa Kanthed of MYP1-B scored 91.6% and won the second position at state level, for which she received a special prize and gold medal; and, Aashita Gupta of MYP1-B won the silver medal and Harshita Bhandari of MYP1-A won the bronze medal.   Akshat Shahjade of MYP2-B scored 98.2% and won a gold medal as well as a wrist watch, Sarthak Rathi of MYP2-B scored 72.6 % securing a silver medal, Kushagra Kesharwani of MYP2-A won a bronze medal, Ishika Bhandari from MYP3-A scored 80% and won a gold medal and Ananya Mimani MYP4-B won a gold medal.

"World Water Day" Assembly by MYP 1 Students

It takes a lot of blue to stay green. As March 22, 2018 is celebrated as ‘World Water Day’, the students of MYP 1A enthusiastically selected water conservation as the theme for their assembly. The importance of celebrating this day was highlighted through a video. Information was also shared about the Science curriculum aligned Service as Action that connects with the unit ‘Environment’, which focused on globalization and sustainability. Thus, they exhibited skills like self -management and communication skills as well as ‘Caring’ learner profile. ‘International Day of Happiness’ was on March 20, 2018 and it was commemorated by spreading laughter along with a meaningful message through a poem and a skit that true happiness lies not in life’s luxurious things but in small little things like bringing a smile on someone’s face.  

TATA Building India Essay Competitio

The students of Choithram International received awards for an essay competition organized by Tata Building India on 17th November, 2017. The junior winner is Leera Gupta from MYP 3 B, with first and second runners-up being Yog Sharma from MYP2-B and Aditi Sahu from MYP1-B, respectively. From the senior level the winner is Eishita Dhanwani from MYP4-A, with first and second runners-up being Parul Tambe from DP-2 and Vikramjeet Singh Sokhey from MYP5-A, respectively.

Every Drop Counts - MYP 1 Service

MYP 1 students enthusiastically managed the initiative themselves to spread awareness about water conservation in the community with regard to Service as Action for their unit ‘environment’ which connected with ‘globalisation and sustainability’. For this, they collected water from different localities and tested their pH value in the laboratory; and thus, analysed the extent of contamination in different areas of the city.  This clearly showcased their ‘caring’ attribute. They also visited a water treatment plant to understand and reflect on the fact that the recycling of water is an important step towards conservation of water.   They visted the PYP- 4 classroom to show the importance of water and its conservation, through interactive activities. MYP Open-Tennis Singles Tournament

MYP Open-Tennis Singles Tournament started on 02.02.2018 and culminated on 09.03.2018. There were two categories of participants, that is, of junior level (Grades 6 and 7) and senior level (Grades 8 and 9). The matches were played according to Draw-Open system for both boys and girls. The participants put in tremendous effort to win the Championship and enjoy the tournament. Suryansh Mittal, Ishan Mirchandani and Aditi Sahoo were the winners with Kabir Patidar, Karthik Kangia and Dhwani being runners-up.

MYP 2B Assembly

The assembly on 15 th March, 2018, presented by the diligent students of MYP 2B included a blend of a robust dance, an eloquent skit based on kidney donation reflecting the common social stigmas which barrier the process on kidney transplant, touched with scientific knowledge of the process. There was an amalgamation of a musical performance with a female choir on the song ‘Bekhauf’ which correlated perfectly with the theme woman empowerment along with some edifying presentations on the Dandi march and a tribute to the legendary cosmologist, Stephen Hawking as he passed away a day before. The tribute included a short biography of his life, how he is one of the most influential personalities in history and a minute of silence devoted to his soul.    A forte of this assembly was that it was completely a student-driven work, clearly reflecting the students’ understanding on the themes of the assembly, demonstrating the genuine erudition of the students and the on-the-sta...
