  Parent Orientation Session   At Choithram International, we believe that parents need to be involved at every step of the teaching-learning process so that they can keep track of their ward's holistic development.   An orientation session was organized for the MYP students and parents with the aim to provide them an insight into MYP principles of assessments. During the session the stakeholders were apprised of the Internal and External Assessments process followed to assess the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes of our young learners. Service Visit to Sewa Mandir -30-07-22

  Service Initiative to Spread Joy Students of MYP 1 took the initiative to bring joy to the lives of special children by organizing a Happiness Drive wherein they collected toys to share with the underprivileged kids.  As a part of their curriculum-driven service project, ‘Happy Childhood’ students visited Sewa Mandir to celebrate International Friendship Day with their new friends.  Enthusiastic Learners of MYP 1 participated in an array of activities which included a performance of melodious songs and synchroni zed dance numbers for the academic staff and kids of Sewa Mandir School.  A lot of effort was put in by our students into collaborative and meticulous planning and practice of the event. IDL Session in MYP-1

  “Learning is a constant process of discovery – a process without end.”— Bruce Lee An interdisciplinary teaching-learning approach allows students to link theory to experience, rooting the content in real-life situations and making the learning more meaningful. Keeping this view in mind, an IDL session was organized for students of MYP-1 connecting the topic of Language and Literature-English with Individuals and Societies. A bunch of enthusiastic learners attended the guest talk by senior faculty from the humanities department that connected their ongoing topic of Child labor with the history of the Industrial Revolution. The engaging session stimulated multiple perspectives on ‘Child Rights and Issues’.  The session also helped in enhancing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills of the students and also developed a sense of empathy towards the children who are of their age group but forced to work as child laborers.

Wellness Session- IKIGAI

"Wellness - A state of being You in totality" - Richa Chaturvedi In a world full of chaos, we sometimes tend to get confused as to what it is that we want to do or pursue in life. Our internal sabotage takes a toll on us, and we feel far away from our core and life purpose. In this regard, a session was conducted for the students of MYP 4 - DP1. The session aimed to enhance wellness and overall well-being through IKIGAI - A way to Find Life Purpose and Happiness!   Students of Design Technology DP1 modelled various products using the Fusion 360 on MacBook. Our students have been using Tinkercad on their iPads to good effect.

Designing Posters for a Purpose

Students are not very keen to design manual posters with a social message, but when given the option to design a digital poster they are very enthusiastic as they have a lot of scope to use technology. Students love to draw, click photographs from their surroundings, and add to the templates. They have options to use a variety of font styles and sizes and add special visual effects. MYP 1 and 2 students created digital posters on global issues which they are studying in their curriculum. Through this activity, they were able to enhance their thinking and communication skills for a social cause by creating posters with visual effects, animations, and GIFs.

Service as Action Through Art Forms

They get ample opportunities to connect academics with service-learning experiences. Looking at the increase in stress level and anxiety during the pandemic, students of MYP 2 A took initiative to identify the role of Arts in Healing. Under the able guidance of the faculties of the Art department, students explored how various art forms dance, drama, music, visual arts, etc. promote healing and wellness. The meticulous planning and systematic execution of the service project “The Healing Power of Art & Artists” were evident at the culmination event on 5th October 2021 on a virtual platform. Game Development

 Under the Game Design unit , MYP 3 students used various applications like code.org , Roblox and Minecraft to create games. They developed challenging games for their targeted audiences. Students were quite inquisitive and excited in developing the games. The unit was a success as it developed critical thinking skills of the students. 

Physics - Gas Properties

MYP 4 students explored and inquired into the relationship between the three thermodynamic variables Pressure, Volume and Temperature using a phet simulation. Phet simulation is open source and is easily accessible on all devices. Students used the screen recording option to demonstrate their learning from the simulation. Students demonstrate their learning by first exploring the simulation at their own pace and then screen recording their understanding and explain and reason out the phenomena of how and why Pressure changes with temperature and so on.

Application of Numbers with GeoGebra

  Technology plays a key role in allowing humans to represent the real world as a model and to quantify the appropriateness of the model. GeoGebra and Desmos help in graphing along with Numbers app and used to fit model for the given data. Also used the same for 3Dimensional modelling.

  Science Week Celebration-2022 With Carl Sagan's veracious words - "Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge", Choithram International, Indore observed a much exhilarating and jubilant week full of competitions and activities to celebrate "National Science Day". Science is an academic and practical endeavor that encompasses the affective exploration of the structure and rules of nature via extensive testing and pragmatic observation.  To put forward their understanding of the principles of sciences, students participated in several activities over a week. Students were thrilled to perform in the activities that had been entrusted to them, such as poster making, poem writing, debates, and so on. The purpose of this event was to instill not just scientific attitudes and research mindedness, but also to stimulate scientific enthusiasm.

Informative session on Managing Digital Footprint

Informative session on Managing Digital Footprint "Digital Wellbeing is about crafting and maintaining a healthy relationship with technology".-Greta Rossi The whole world has been taken over by digital technology during the long spell of pandemic and it has deeply impacted the children as they had to switch over to online study, confined at home. All of a sudden they got exposed to the complex digital world. At this juncture, it is very much important to empower young learners to become responsible and safe digital citizens. Keeping this in mind, a Digital Wellness session was conducted by the Students of MYP 2. The theme of the event was ‘Digital Footprint' and the aim was to sensitize students on how to remain safe online and also to reinforce the etiquettes required to thrive in a digitally-driven world. Science collaborative meeting

  Science facilitators collaborate to enhance the Teaching and Assessing Process “None of us is as smart as all of us.” – Ken Blanchard With this vision, Twenty-eight members from across the country and beyond the borders enthusiastically exchanged ideas intending to Realize a common vision, that is making the ‘Teaching and Assessing’ more fruitful. Choithram International facilitated a collaborative meeting of Science teachers with a common vision. The agenda was to frame the curriculum keeping in mind the depth of content, concept, and skills according to the age group of students. Designing interesting assessments and connecting them with Global contexts and International mindedness was also discussed and ideas were exchanged among the participants.The whole experience was helpful and good. Such interactive science collaboration will be further planned periodically with specific agenda to support and enrich one another as a team.  -

Creative Minds

Students of MYP 3 were asked to design a creative composition. Budding artists first brainstormed ideas on Popplet. Through this app students expressed their thoughts with clarity. It helped in simplifying complex thoughts to crisp ideas. Students then used Procreate app to to design creative composition.They explored various tools and experimented .Budding artists learnt to create figurative compositions through procreate.Finally some of the students successfully came up with successful and creative outcomes.

Musical Periodic Table

Garage Band: MYP 1 Students were introduced to the first 20 elements of the periodic table. They were given a mnemonic to learn and recall them in sequence as it was helpful to remember their atomic number and valency. Later, students were allowed to use tech integration to demonstrate their understanding. A group of students collaborated and used the Garage band application and recorded a Rap Song on Elements on the periodic table. It was amazingly compiled in such a manner that it helped other students also to revise the learned elements.

भाषा में व्याकरण का बहुत महत्त्व है। इसलिए छात्र संस्कृत के धातुरूप को सीखने के लिए एप्पल के ‘नंबर्स’ एप का उपयोग करेंगे । छात्रों ने धातुरूप सीखने के लिए नंबर्स का उपयोग किया और उन्हें वॉयस मेमो के माध्यम से रिकॉर्ड किया और धातु रूप का उच्चारण किया। छात्रों ने नम्बर्स का उपयोग करके संस्कृत के धातुरूप सीखे और उन्हें वॉयस मेमो के माध्यम से रिकॉर्ड किया और धातु रूप का उच्चारण किया।

MYP Orientation Session

  MYP Orientation Session Parent involvement always boosts students’ achievements.   At CI we believe that Parents’ involvement in the education of their children in positive ways, always maximizes their untapped potentials and leads to holistic development.   Keeping this view in mind a virtual orientation session was organized for the parents and students on Saturday, 5th February 2022. The purpose of this orientation was to enlighten the parents and keep them informed about the intricate details of the MYP Assessment procedure and the IB way of the teaching-learning process.     Through an informative presentation, MYP Coordinator acquainted the parents about the ensuing term-end examination procedure and also apprised them about the examination pattern along with the assessment criteria of different subjects.   MYP 1 students used “measurement app on iPad” to justify the accuracy of calculations of areas of rectangular and square figures in their surroundings. Students identified objects such as switchboards, tiles, laptops, etc. and verified their dimensions and areas

Renaissance Period

The students of MYP 2 demonstrated their understanding and knowledge of the renaissance period in the form of a video presentation using photo booth. They first understood the key concepts, the timeline and took notes in the class. Later they filtered out information to deliver precise information as reporters. Giving the background a green colour and integrating some animations in their videos tweaked their creative thinking skills. Using various apple apps and recording themselves was a great and new way of learning wherein they could reflect on their delivery of speech.
